As the population density of the region increases, we become more dependent on an ever-more complex-and fragile-matrix of interrelated infrastructure, social, and economic factors. ![]() Today, the nine-county Bay Area has a population of nearly seven million. When the "Great Earthquake" hit in 1906, San Francisco was the eighth largest city in the United States, and by far the largest city west of the Mississippi. All of these factors exacerbate the dangers inherent to being precariously straddled between the San Andreas and Hayward faults. And with 75 percent of the rental housing stock covered by rent control, much of the housing stock is poorly maintained. Much of the city was built on sand, landfill, and other non-compacted soil, which is subject to liquefaction. Our housing stock is the oldest in the West. Of all American cities, San Francisco is probably the most vulnerable to catastrophic disaster. In San Francisco, our housing stock will suffer the most. There is little doubt that major earthquakes will hit the Bay Area again, and wreak havoc on our social structure, utilities, transportation, and economy. In the preceding 75 years (between 18), there were 16 earthquakes of magnitude 6.0 or stronger, most of which were centered in what are now heavily populated areas. ![]() Over the past 75 years, there have only been two earthquakes in the Bay Area with magnitudes of 6.0 or greater. ![]() The 3D mapping looks like a prototype, not a patch on traditional Tom Tom graphics. You cannot get a written summary of the calculated route only a preview map. The device takes a good minute to boot up. You cannot upload even new voices, nothing!! You cannot even see what POI's the device has on-board as it won't list them or let you browse, your only allowed to word search the lot in one go - great if your sure what your looking for but what if you just want to look through and pick say a car park that suits you? if you don't already know its name forget it! Its seems to think its Google not a Sat Nav. You can only computer access it via Mydrive for updating which gives no direct access to the device only a sort of web based server connection so you can only do what Tom Tom allow - which is very little!!!! While noting the change in time, Wamuu used his digestive acids to graft the hands of the rest of the Nazi group together, allowing him to absorb them simultaneously. Wamuu is introduced when he uses his horn to kill one of the Nazis sent to prevent the Pillar Mens' awakening, using the dead man's blood to disable to UV lights. The Pillar Man begin their awakening in 1939. The wall that he and his masters embedded themselves in was booby-trapped to impale potential prey for nourishment as seen with Mario Zeppeli. The Pillar Men's search took them to Rome where they battled Ripple users before entering a hibernation state under the Roman Colosseum. However, he was reluctant to kill a child from the clan, so Kars killed the boy himself. During their travels, he participated in the extermination of the Ripple Clan. Wamuu accompanied his masters to find a flawless Red Stone of Aja. After being trained by the two, Wamuu became a strong warrior with honed instincts. After Kars and Esidisi exterminated their clan, Wamuu and Santana were taken in by the two of them since they were infants. Wamuu is a member of the same race as Kars. Perhaps his fighting genius was best demonstrated in his fight with Caesar, when, despite being cornered and injured, he managed to escape by using the force generated by Caesar's attack to push himself to safety. However, due to the scraping and heat led by the quick wind compression, the technique slowly tears apart Wamuu's body until he collapses.įighting Genius: Wamuu's signature characteristic, as he was described as a "Fighting Genius" by many characters in the series, including Caesar and Wamuu's own master, Kars. The wind flails about much like a whip and is sharp enough to cut through stone. ![]() The air is then released through a slit on the horn of his head, causing it to become as sharp as a razor blade. ![]() Typically used as a last resort, Wamuu uses the tubes for his wind suit to gather huge amounts of air and compresses it in his lungs. Somehow, Wamuu is able to tell when someone is stepping on his shadow, even if he wasn't looking at their direction. Wamuu has a weird personality quirk, where he reflexively attacks anyone who steps on his shadow, even if it was one of his masters (Kars and Esidisi). Either way, Wamuu will obey their command. Wamuu occasionally requests that his masters change their plans to suit his love of fights, which they allow easily since they have raised Wamuu as their finest warrior but also can refuse. During his battle with Caesar, he noted that Kars would have an even harder time fighting Caesar than him. He respects both highly, yet holds no illusion that neither of them has the same sense of honor and can objectively assert their strengths and weaknesses. The only thing that rivals his sense of honor is his fidelity toward his masters Kars and Esidisi, who raised him since he was a baby. When it comes to fighting, Wamuu is irritated that a fighter might try to flee or surrender, but he considers using tactics such as ambushes or feints to beat one's opponent acceptable. Kars even went further and said that after activating his mental switch, Wamuu no longer has any psychological weaknesses. Thus, he will gouge his eyes and rely on his wind-sensing horn as a means of seeing. As a testament to his commitment and strength of character, Wamuu has developed himself an extreme mental switch designed to help him focus if he ever enters a state of shock or panics during combat. Wamuu also opted to kill the helpless Speedwagon and Caesar who saw his humiliation before being distracted. On the other hand, Wamuu has a high opinion of himself, as he regularly deems certain individuals "worthy" or "unworthy" of fighting him. For instance, he once let Joseph beat him as punishment for letting his guard down and strongly disliked that Joseph expressed pity on him. Wamuu is as severe toward himself as he is toward anyone else save his masters. ![]() ![]() What’s most impressive though about Tomb Raider is how well does it craft Lara Croft as a character. Uthaug never stretches the limits too far because it plays out like a work of pure pulp, where it’s easiest to have fun as it never takes itself as overtly seriously as it possibly could have been. With a supporting cast that includes the likes of Daniel Wu, Dominic West, and Walton Goggins, there’s a reasonable amount of talent that should at least be able to keep the film flowing nicely. At its worst, though, you can take the basic story outline and think to yourself about how you could sit back and just watch Raiders of the Lost Ark instead – but it’s not a fault of the film that it knows the very limits to which it is confined within considering the fact that it’s based on a video game.įor as easy as it is to say that video game movies are destined to fail, there’s quite a lot about Tomb Raider that keeps it from sinking down to that very low – because Roar Uthaug’s direction still offers enough energy within the action sequences to keep you invested just as he would give room for the talents of the cast to shine. At its best, the film’s action should be enough to keep oneself engaged for the running time, because it gives Lara Croft herself the perfect introduction to the screen and allows for her energy to shine everywhere possible. It does its job well as a video game movie and already plays out perfectly like a call back to the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot, and as is, it’s also quite fun.Īlicia Vikander stars as Lara Croft in this new rendition of the Tomb Raider films, as she sets out on another adventure to an uncharted island in order to find the whereabouts of her missing father – only to end up running into more trouble on the way. In the original manga, after getting caught by Gomez trashing some robots, with the help of Tsuotmu, Birdy rattles off a Sailor Moon-esque speech (though the original manga does predate Sailor Moon). They play no role in the plot whatsoever, being there only to set up the Running Gag about destroying yet another car of theirs. Draco in Leather Pants: Averted for the most part with Shyamalan, who appears to be more hated than loved, likely because of his Smug Snake tendencies.Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy: Second season of Decode tries a little too hard to be both Bloodier and Gorier and Darker and Edgier.Cult Classic: The franchise as a whole isn't very well-known, but has its fair share of fans. ![]() ![]() ![]() Silver also has the lowest contact resistance of any metal. The electrical conductivity of silver is the highest of all metals, greater even than copper. The thermal conductivity of silver is among the highest of all materials, although the thermal conductivity of carbon (in the diamond allotrope) and superfluid helium-4 are higher. Very high electrical and thermal conductivity are common to the elements in group 11, because their single s electron is free and does not interact with the filled d subshell, as such interactions (which occur in the preceding transition metals) lower electron mobility. Protected silver has greater optical reflectivity than aluminium at all wavelengths longer than ~450 nm. Silver has a brilliant, white, metallic luster that can take a high polish, and which is so characteristic that the name of the metal itself has become a color name. This observation explains the low hardness and high ductility of single crystals of silver. Unlike metals with incomplete d-shells, metallic bonds in silver are lacking a covalent character and are relatively weak. As one of the seven metals of antiquity, silver has had an enduring role in most human cultures. Its purity is typically measured on a per-mille basis a 94%-pure alloy is described as "0.940 fine". Silver metal is used in many bullion coins, sometimes alongside gold: while it is more abundant than gold, it is much less abundant as a native metal. Silver has long been valued as a precious metal.
